My first entry on something I know nothing about! I just want to share our life with all of our loved ones! God continues to bless me and my family everyday, and I have learned so much about others through blogging, so I decided to jump on the virtual band wagon and share a piece of the Denton household.
I am a stay-at-home mom of three beautiful boys. My husband is the most wonderful man on the face of the earth. He has given me the fairytale life I have always dreamed of. I love him more today then when I first felt my heart go pitter patter! He has grown into a man that loves the Lord, and one of integrity and honor. He is a wonderful dad, and most of all my best friend.
My oldest son is Brycen Grant. He was born June 30, 2002. He was the skinniest little thing, but he changed my life in such a Big fat way. I wanted a career, and to help create a life that was comfortable for Brad and I. Instead, God spoke softly and tenderly through each little cry of Brycen's, and told me I had job far more important here at home. So with that I had a change of heart, and began pinching every cent and cutting every coupon. With God by our side, we have created a home full of love and one that is so comfortable we don't want to get out of bed until 9am! Brycen is our infomercial, dancing, engineering comedian. He is smart that he is scary. What a mom thing to say, huh? He is our blond hair, blue eyed bundle of joy. He is fixing to start kindergarten this year, and oh yes those 6:45 am wake up calls are looming. He is so excited, and I am so dreading it! As I always remind Brad, this is an exciting time and we shouldn't look at how time has flown by but we should embrace this benchmark in their lives. I say this holding back tears!
Ty is our middle child, who like to refer to as our miracle baby! It wasn't that he was hard to conceive, it was quite the opposite with all of our boys! He came unannounced, and unexpected. I never will forget the fear in my sisters voice, as she asked me if was going to do something crazy like abort the baby! I cried for three days straight. Our pastor, which is my brother in law, came over because he was worried. See I was afraid for Brycen, and how this was going to affect our lives. Dave went on to explain how God gives us a cup of love, and I would find out that that cup never goes empty. I loved that baby the instant I saw him. Even though Brad and I fought over his name, Ty was such blessing. He turned out to be our rambunctious one. He is a ball player through and through. He never backs down from a challenge. I tell you honestly that he wears his UT Vols jersey at least three days a week at times. I try to hide so that my neighbors think he does have other clothes. The miracle came back in the summer of 2007. It was the 4th of July and Brad was in Rogersville, doing a festival there with his dad. I was at the office doing payroll. My cell phone rang and it was Nannie on the phone telling me there had been an accident. Everyone was fine but they were going to the hospital to just check everyone out, she went on to say. I began to panic and I felt the words reveal the truth of what she had said. She allowed me to talk to Brycen and he tried to assure me that everyone was okay. It didn't work because I could barely talk. I hung up the phone and called my mom to meet at the hospital. As I sit and type these words my heart races as I know the things that were to come. St. Mary's hospital is where I had had two of the boys, so I felt like I knew it well, and that if they could bring little one's into the world that they would be able to save one if need be. I sat in the waiting room with the baby as I saw Papaw Jeff carry Ty in. His face was all scratched up and the look on Jeff's face was one of shear shock. I grabbed Ty and I just began to pray. I don't even remember what I prayed, but it was almost like the holy spirit just prayed through my fear. I rocked back and forth with tears streaming down my face, as I did not know what was wrong with him, but I knew he wasn't breathing well and that there was terrible smell oozing from his body. It came to be that St Mary's couldn't help him and so they transferred him to UT. There is when Brad met me and that we found out that Ty was in grave danger. Brad broke down, and I felt like my life was about to be turned upside down. When the ER md come in the room and told us of all his injuries, it was like the rug had been pulled out from under us. The nights events had been such a roller coaster ride. One moment it was looking good and then here we are looking at our two year old and wondering if he would be with us in the morning. I soon found out that that familiar smell was the liver secreting due to it being severed. It was consider a grade 4 injury and 5 being deadly. He had 10 fractured ribs, a punctured lung, two fractured jaws, and a fractured mandible. We finally breathed a sigh of relief later on that night when the ct scan revealed there was no spinal cord injury. The liver injury was causing his blood levels to drop at a drastically high rate. This was the main focus throughout the night. It was about 7:45am that morning when the Doctor making rounds came to see us and told us we had made it through the critical window, and that Ty was a fighter and that he looked like he was going to be fine, but he would have a long road to recovery. I should have told you that the wreak was with his older brother and with his Nannie. They were trying to get on the four wheeler, when Brycen's toy hit the gas. This caused the atv to spin and then flip. It threw Brycen off, and it rolled over on Nannie and they think on to Ty. As the Doctor left, I looked over at Ty and I knew he was a fighter, but I also knew who gave him the will to fight. You see there was a lobby full of friends, family and church members who never ceased in their prayers. They had formed a safe haven over that hospital that night and they allowed God to be shown to every one in that ER room that night. That next day, on one could explain how Ty's grade 4 injury had now been classified as a grade 2 maybe even a 1. God had touch Ty and he had revealed His grace to us. Ty had a tough three months of no activity....no bicycle, no trampoline, no sports, no nightly ritual of wrestling with dad! It was terrible seeing how badly he wanted to play but couldn't. That is Ty...90 miles an hour, and always with a competition on his mind. God healed Ty that night, and I will forever be grateful for allowing us to see His handy work through our son.
Last but not least, is our 15month old Colton. We once again were not expecting another child, but God found us in need of yet another little boy. We didn't find out what we were having, like that would allow us to have a girl or something. But honestly I felt deep in my heart that we were having a girl right up until the night before we were going into the hospital. We had the girl name, but we had not yet decided on the boy name. Brad called and suggested Vance. Oh I about died when he went on to tell me of the rock band with Van morrision. That 80's music has got a grip unforetold on my husband! I quickly told him to move on to the next name, which he told me was Colton. I loved it. It sounded great with John, and then I felt inside that maybe I was having a boy. Then when we were admitted that morning for induction the nurse that prepped me, her last name was Colton. It was that moment that I knew we were having a boy. By the time delivery came I didn't care what we were having I just wanted it out! But once again, I feel instantly in love with this little spit ball of fire Denton boy! This little chubby boy was the sweetest little thing, that only added and I feel may have completed this family. He too is blond hair, and blue eyed little boy. Oh how I fear those teenage years, when the girls are to be conquered. Brad and I can already set the scene when the phone rings off the hook, and the dates are continuous. My prayer is that they each grow into men of integrity and men of good character. Men who love the Lord, and respect others. I hope that they treat others like they want to be treated, and that they look to needs of others that they can meet. I pray that they each find that niche in the world to call their own, and they give a 100% in all they try. I am not nieve enough to think that failure is not in their future, but I pray that they meet each trial with knowledge that they can do all things through Christ that strenghtens them(phillipians 4:13). I pray that they each come to know Christ as their personal Lord and savior. I pray that they walk close to Him, and hide His words in their heart. I pray that Brad and I always set good examples for them to follow, and to led them in the ways that Christ would have us to. I love them each more than words could say, and I feel like they are each a blessing from God.
